Delegation from IIT Kharagpur Paid Courtesy Visit to the University of Toyama

On July 8, Associate Professor Bhaskar Bhowmick, Head of the Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship, together with Associate Professors Prabha Bhola and Titas Bhattacharjee from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), paid a courtesy visit to the University of Toyama (UT). They met with President Shigeru Saito, Professor Geetha Mohan, and Professor Naoya Wada.

UT and IIT Kharagpur concluded an academic exchange agreement on November 26, 2025. Since then, collaborative research and student exchange activities have been promoted, primarily through the School of Sustainable Design and the Global Research Centre for Advanced Sustainability Science (GRASS) at UT.

During the meeting, President Saito and Associate Professor Bhaskar Bhowmick delivered remarks on the significance of exchanges between UT and IIT Kharagpur, as well as the importance of strengthening academic ties between Japan and India. The participants also exchanged views on further promoting researcher and student mobility between the two institutions.

The visit is expected to further enhance academic cooperation and strengthen the partnership between the two institutions.
