Prof. Gerrit van der Laan, Diamond Light Source, UK, Dr. Didier Sébilleau, University of Rennes 1, France and Dr. Fabio Iesari, SAGA Light Source paid a courtesy visit to University of Toyama

On October 16, 2019, Prof. Gerrit van der Laan, Diamond Light Source, UK, Dr. Didier Sébilleau, University of Rennes 1, France, and Dr. Fabio Iesari, SAGA Light Source paid a courtesy visit to Executive Vice President Masayuki Ikeda. They visited to University of Toyama (UT) to give a lecture at the International Symposium hosted by Department of Physics, Faculty of Science. UT.

Diamond Light Source where Prof. Laan researches is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. He was awarded Europhysics Prize 2000 by European Physical Society. The prize is authoritative and many laureates of the Europhysics Prize also received a Novel Prize.

Dr. Sébilleau and Associate Prof. Keisuke Hatada, Faculty of Science, UT play a central role on the collaboration, and as the result, Graduate School of Science and Engineering for Research, UT and Faculty of Science and Properties of Matter, University of Rennes 1 concluded a faculty-level agreement in November 2011.

Dr. Iesari graduated from University of Camerino, Italy and did carried out his research at Faculty of Science, UT for one year with the support of Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan by Japan Society for Promotion of Science.

On the courtesy visit, the participants introduced their own institutions and exchanged opinions about academic exchanges in the future.
