留学生の休学について　Procedure for temporary absence from school

留学生の皆さんが持っている「留学」ビザは留学生としての活動（勉強）を継続して3ヶ月以上行わない場合、取り消され（入国管理法第22条の4より）、本国に強制的に帰国させられます。（＊正当な理由がある場合は除く。）
よって、留学生が休学をする場合、正当な理由がある場合を除き、

  1. 本国へ帰国
    または
  2. 他の在留資格を取得

しなくてはなりません。「経済的理由」は正当な理由にはあたりません。
つまり、休学中に日本に滞在し資格外活動（アルバイト）をすることはできません。
尚、休学理由が「正当な理由」にあたるかどうか判断がつかない場合は、各部局教務担当までご相談ください。

As your VISA status ‘Student’, if you neglect your main purpose ‘Study’ for more than 3months, your VISA will be cancelled (Immigration Act 22-4) and you will be forced to return your country. (Except for you have a legitimate reason.)
Namely, if International Student take long absence from school without legitimate reason,

  1. You need to return to your country
    or
  2. You need to apply another status to stay in Japan

‘Economically hard’ won’t be accepted as a proper reason. You cannot take part time job in Japan while you are taking a leave of absence from school.
If you are not sure about whether your reason is applicable or not, please ask at your faculty office.
