本日、令和４年度９月期学位記授与式において、海外からの留学生２５名を含む、学部卒業生１９名、大学院修士課程修了生１５名、同じく博士課程修了生１５名、そして論文博士６名、合計５５名の皆さんに学位記を授与いたしました。卒業生、修了生の皆さん、ご卒業誠におめでとうございます。富山大学教職員を代表して、皆様に心よりお慶びを申し上げます。
Since we have international students here today, I would like to give a short congratulatory message in English.
Hello everyone. It’ｓ a great pleasure to see you all today.
You have been awarded a degree by the University of Toyama.
On behalf of the University, I extend my sincere congratulations.
近年、社会状況は大きく変化しています。AIやIoT等の先端技術が高度化するだけでなく、カーボンニュートラルやリサイクルの推進といった環境対策にも、技術革新が求められています。８月末に国際学会でフランス・モンペリエに出張しましたが、プラスチックの食器が無くなり、町の中にバスが走っておらず、全てがトラム化されていました。カーボンニュートラルが急速に進行していることを実感しました。また、新型コロナウイルス感染を恐れ、社会活動を制限するのではなく、積極的にコミュニケーションを取り、社会活動を活性化するように社会が変化していることを実感しました。そのようなまさに「新時代」に適応するには、異なる学問がそれぞれ連携・融合し、今までにない文系・理系をこえた新しい学問が必要になります。これには、英語を共通言語とするコミュニケーションが重要となり、ウェブ会議で簡単に海外の方と会話できるようになりました。
皆さんは、それぞれの専門分野において、日々研鑽を積み、知識を深めてこられました。みなさんが富山大学において培った“知と経験”をもって、これからは一つの分野にとどまらず、分野を超えた新しい学問への挑戦を続け、新時代に活躍されることを期待します。そして、富山大学で築いた人と人とのつながりや地域とのつながりといった様々な“ネットワーク”を大切にし、今後も広い視野と柔軟性を持った豊かな人間力を磨いてください。
大学での皆さんの学びや研究が、高度で複雑な新時代を牽引していくことを願っております。
In recent years, the social situation has changed significantly. Not only are advanced technologies such as AI and IoT advanced, but technological innovation is also required for environmental measures such as promotion of carbon neutrality and recycling. When I traveled to Montpellier, France at the end of August for an international conference, plastic dishes were gone, there were no buses running in the town, and everything had been converted to tram. I realized that carbon neutrality is progressing rapidly. I also realized that society is changing so that instead of limiting social activities out of fear of COVID-19 infection, people are actively communicating and activating social activities. In order to adapt to such a “new era,” different disciplines will be linked and fused, and new disciplines that transcend the humanities and sciences that have never existed will be required. To this end, communication using English as a common language has become important, and we can now easily converse with people overseas via web conferencing.
You have been studying and deepening your knowledge every day in each specialized field. With the “knowledge and experience” that you have cultivated at the University of Toyama, I hope that you will continue to challenge new academic fields beyond one field and play an active role in the new era.
富山大学は、地域の「地の拠点」として、教育・研究・社会活動を通じ、地域の発展及び課題解決に積極的に取り組むととともに、魅力溢れる『おもしろい』大学を目指し、今後も挑戦していきます。皆さんも、富山で、あるいはふるさとや世界の各地で、元気に、夢の実現に向けた挑戦の人生を歩んでください。

I also would like to make our university to be attractive and “Omoshiroi” which means interesting, enjoyable or amusing in English.
Please continue to try the various new things in Toyama, Hometown or around the world.
