皆様、ご卒業おめでとうございます。本日、ここに、教育学部・人間発達科学部、薬学部、工学部、芸術文化学部の４学部の卒業生が一同に集まり、学位記授与式を執り行うことができますことを、本当に嬉しく思います。また、御来賓の方々には、御多忙の中ご臨席を賜り、厚く御礼申し上げます。毎年、学位記授与式は、学部学生と大学院修了生が一同に集まっていますが、今年は富山市総合体育館が工事中ですので、４学部の卒業生のみの式典となりました事をお詫びいたします。
本日、８名の留学生を含む、４学部卒業生６３８名に学位記を授与致しました。富山大学からそれぞれの道へ巣立つ、この良き日を迎えることができたこと、教職員一同並びに来賓の方々を代表して、心からお祝い申し上げます。おめでとうございます。
Since we have international students here today, I would like to give a short congratulatory message in English.
It’ｓ a great pleasure to see you all today. You have been awarded a degree by University of Toyama.
On behalf of the University, I extend my sincere congratulations.
Every year, this ceremony is held jointly for undergraduate and graduate students. However, as the Toyama City Gymnasium is currently under renovation, we regret that this year’s ceremony is limited to graduates of the four faculties. I kindly ask for your understanding.
まず最初に、富山大学在学中、皆さんは勉学、課外活動も含めて大学生活を楽しめたでしょうか？私が学長となった際、富山大学を「おもしろい大学」としたいという想いを、ポスターや大学ホームページで伝えましたが、卒業生の皆さんの学生生活が「おもしろい」ものであったとすれば、私としてはとてもうれしいです。
高校の教師主体の授業から、富山大学では自ら学び、専門分野を自分で選び、深く学ぶのみならず、自ら課題を見つけ、調べ、考える能力を身につけられたと思います。また富山大学は９学部あり、多様な背景を持つ学生が、共に学び合える場所で、その中でコミュニケーション力と協働（Cooperation）の力を身につけられたと思います。本日皆さんは大学での勉学を終えられ、学位記を取得されました。その努力に対して、心から称賛したいと思います。
First, I would like to ask: during your time at the University of Toyama, were you able to enjoy your studies and campus life, including extracurricular activities? When I became President, I expressed through posters and the university website my desire to make the University of Toyama an “interesting university,OMOSHIROI DAIGAKU.” If your student life has indeed been “interesting,” nothing would bring me greater joy. At university, unlike the teacher-directed style of high school, you were able to choose your own academic fields, study them in depth, discover issues on your own, and develop the ability to investigate and think independently. University of Toyama consists of nine faculties and provides a place where students of diverse backgrounds learn together. Through this environment, I believe you have gained strong communication skills and the ability to cooperate with others. Today, you have completed your studies and obtained your degree. I wholeheartedly commend your efforts.
さて、現在、社会は大きな変革期を迎えつつあります。これらの変化に必要な学ぶべき３つの教育の柱として、グローバル教育、AI・データサイエンス教育、課題解決型教育を富山大学では掲げました。デジタル化、AIの発展で世界中の人材と共同で仕事をしたり、競争したりする時代となり、経済が国境を越えて繋がり、多くの国々の多様性を理解し共に働く力が必要となりました。外国人子弟に対する初等教育、地球の温暖化を防ぐためのカーボンニュートラルに取組む工夫と手段、様々な工夫をこらした工業製品の海外輸出、世界の人々の健康を守るための医薬品開発、芸術を用いて住み良い快適な環境にする事など、世界中の人々と協力する必要があります。卒業生の皆さんは、富山大学で学んだ英会話や、留学生との交流で身に着けた英会話を活かして国際的にも活躍できる人材になっていただき、これからの日本を盛り立てていただきたいと願っています。
Society is now undergoing major and rapid transformation. In response, the University of Toyama has identified three essential pillars of education for navigating these changes: global education, AI and data science education, and problem solving education. With digitalization and the rapid advancement of AI, we now live in an era in which we work and compete with people from around the world. Economies extend across borders, and it has become vital to understand diversity and work collaboratively with people from many different nations. There is a need for cooperation with people around the world in areas such as providing primary education for foreign children, developing strategies and measures to achieve carbon neutrality and mitigate global warming, exporting industrial products overseas through various forms of innovation, developing pharmaceuticals that protect the health of people worldwide, and using the arts to create comfortable and livable environments.I hope that all of you will use the English communication skills you acquired through your studies and interactions with international students to become globally active professionals who contribute to Japan’s future.
また多くのデータを利用できるようになり、データを活用して課題解決を行なうAI・データサイエンスも必須となっています。経済財政諮問会議（2025年5月）の資料では2040年にはAI・ロボット等の活用を担う情報人材が326万人不足すると予想されています。富山大学では、データサイエンス教育を必須化していますので、卒業生の皆さんはその知識と経験を活かして今後、教育の現場、企業、行政機関、医療機関などいろいろな分野で活躍していただけると思っています。
As vast amounts of data are now readily available, AI and data science—which enable us to solve problems by analyzing data—have also become indispensable. According to materials presented at the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy (May 2025), Japan is projected to face a shortage of 3.26 million information technology professionals by 2040 who are capable of applying AI and robotics. Because University of Toyama has made data science education compulsory, I am confident that you will make use of this knowledge and experience in various fields, including government agencies, companies, financial institutions, and medical institutions.
また、皆さんは、課題解決型授業において、専門分野が異なる他者と連携して、自分の持っていない他者の能力を借りながら、課題を解決するという方法を学びました。個人１人の力ではなく、団体の叡智で対策を練る過程で、お互いの能力を尊重し、社会の課題を解決する事が、いかに素晴らしい事であるかを体験されたと思います。今、企業や医療の現場ならびに社会からも、多職種連携して課題解決できる人材が求められています。これから大きく変化していくであろう社会に対応するために、卒業生の皆さんは是非とも富山大学での体験を活かして、多くの新しい課題を解決し、素晴らしい日本の未来社会を作っていって下さい。
In your problem solving courses, you learned how to collaborate with individuals from different disciplines, drawing on one another’s strengths to solve issues that cannot be addressed alone. Through these experiences, you gained firsthand understanding of how remarkable it is to respect each other’s abilities and to resolve societal challenges through collective wisdom. Today,society—including corporate workplaces and medical fields—strongly seeks individuals who can collaborate across professions to solve problems. As society continues to change dramatically, I encourage you to make full use of the experiences you gained at University of Toyama, to address new challenges, and to help create a bright future for Japan.
今、日本では、大学院で高度の教育を受けた高度専門人材を必要としています。先に述べた資料においても、2040年には院卒理系人材が47万人不足と予想されています。本日の学部卒業生の中で、大学院に進学される方も大勢おられます。大学院では、学部で学習して得た知識を基に、これまで解決できていなかった事を、さまざまに工夫した実験で明らかにしたり、過去の文献を整理して新事実を明らかにしたり、社会に存在するビッグデータを基にデータサイエンスや生成AIを用いて、新たな解決策を見い出すような学びを行ないます。大学院を修了すると１）高度な専門知識と研究能力が高まり、２）問題解決能力と分析力が高まり、３）リーダーシップと管理能力を身につけることが出来、４）コミュニケーション能力も高まるとされています。今回は大学院に進学しなくても、社会人になってから大学院で学び直し、人間として大きく成長する事ができますので、私の言葉を記憶に留めていただきたいと思います。
Japan now urgently needs highly specialized professionals with advanced education at the graduate level. The same report I mentioned earlier predicts that by 2040, Japan will face a shortage of 470,000 science and engineering professionals with graduate level training. Among today’s graduates, many of you will continue your studies in graduate school. In graduate school, you will build upon the knowledge you developed as undergraduates: clarifying unresolved issues through creative experiments, identifying new findings by organizing past literature, and using big data, data science, and generative AI to discover new solutions. Completing graduate school is said to enhance:
- Advanced expertise and research skills
- Problem solving and analytical ability
- Leadership and management capability
- Communication skills
最後に富山大学と卒業生の皆さんとの今後のつながりにつき、お願いがあります。富山大学は、これからも富山県での地域活性化の中核として、地域から頼られる国立大学として地方創生に貢献していきたいと思っています。また、それらの成果を世界に発信し、世界中の人々のwell-beingに貢献したいと考えています。そのために、富山大学では、卒業生の皆さんが母校とのつながりを深められるよう、本年4月から“富山大学アルムナイプラットフォーム”の運用を開始します。ご登録いただけますと、コミュニティ参加や同窓生検索、イベント交流を通じて、卒業後も大学と気軽につながることができます。どうかこのプラットフォームを活用し、富山大学で育まれた絆をこれからも広げていって下さい。また皆さん方の活躍をぜひとも富山大学までお知らせ下さい。 皆さんにとって誇れる母校として在り続けられるよう、教職員ともに尽力していくつもりですので、これからは同窓生として富山大学を長きに渡りご支援ならびに応援していただきたいと、願っております。
Finally, I would like to ask for your continued connection with the University of Toyama. The university will continue striving to serve as a trusted national university at the center of regional revitalization in Toyama Prefecture, and to contribute to global well being by sharing our achievements with the world. To strengthen ties between the university and its graduates, we will launch the “University of Toyama Alumni Platform” this April. By registering, you will be able to stay easily connected with the university through community participation, alumni searches, and events. Please make full use of this platform and continue to expand the bonds you fostered here at University of Toyama. We also encourage you to share your future accomplishments with us. We, the faculty and staff, will continue doing our utmost to ensure that University of Toyama remains a place you can be proud to call your alma mater. As fellow alumni, I sincerely hope you will continue to support and encourage the university for many years to come.
これから社会に旅立つ卒業生の皆様は、失敗を恐れず、常に挑戦して、行動して、君達の未来を自ら形作っていただきたいと願っています。「おもしろい人生」となるよう、自ら積極的に行動して社会で活躍して下さい。君達の未来が光り輝く事を切望しています。 以上、学長告辞といたします。
To all graduates setting out into society: do not fear failure. Always take on new challenges, take action, and shape your own future. Live proactively so that your life becomes an “interesting one,” and shine brightly in the world. I wish you all a brilliant future. Thank you.
